PTE test centres in the UK

For a UK visa, find the Secure English Language Test (SELT) and level your route needs. Then use Pearson’s live finder to check an approved centre and available date.

Find an approved UK PTE appointment

Start with GOV.UK’s approved SELT guidance when a secure test is required. Check the accepted product and use its current list of locations in the UK. Then search the exact Pearson product and appointment.

  1. Confirm the route, required skills, CEFR level and intended application date.
  2. Choose Academic UKVI or the required Home level where it matches that requirement.
  3. Use the UK approved-location information, not the outside-UK list for an appointment in Britain or Northern Ireland.
  4. Search the product’s live Pearson availability for a practical location and date.
  5. Compare the final address, time, price, ID and change terms before paying.

Check UK centres and appointments

A centre appearing in an ordinary Academic directory does not establish SELT approval. Nor does approval alone guarantee an available seat for your date or Home level.

Which product should the booking name?

ProductWhat to establish first
PTE AcademicThe institution accepts the standard test and a SELT booking is not required for the evidence route.
PTE Academic UKVIThe application requires a four-skills SELT, with the relevant component scores.
PTE Home A1, A2 or B1The exact stage and application date require speaking/listening at a level the booked product proves.

The UK country guide compares Student, work, family and other evidence checks. Home stops at B1. Published settlement rules contain a B2 change from 26 March 2027 on several routes; do not assume Home B1 is suitable for a later application.

A test centre cannot decide your immigration eligibility, sponsor assessment or exemption. Resolve the receiving requirement before selecting the most convenient location.

The UKVI label and SELT reference matter

Academic UKVI shares Academic content, format and scoring, but it is the specific secure-test booking with the SELT reference. Do not replace a required Academic UKVI appointment with standard Academic because the centre or date is easier to reach.

For example, if a nearby centre offers only standard Academic for the selected date, that result does not become a UKVI SELT merely because you took it in the UK. Search the required product and an approved location instead. The study/work official-check guide helps confirm the evidence method.

After the test, use the SELT URN from the actual result where the application requests it. A booking reference or an image of an appointment is not that result reference.

Accepted ID and the UK eVisa option

Pearson’s current UK SELT ID policy accepts a valid passport in any country. For SELT testing in the UK, it also supports the UK eVisa View and Prove process. That digital exception is not a general rule for every PTE product or testing country.

If using the eVisa route, Pearson instructs you to obtain a share code for “anything else,” beginning with S, and enter it when booking. The code is valid for 90 days; if it expires before test day, provide a new valid one. Pearson recommends bringing accepted physical ID as a backup where possible.

Other permitted documents and temporary BRP/BRC provisions have conditions and date limits. Check the live policy rather than assuming an old physical card, driving licence or phone copy is sufficient. Match your account details to the accepted evidence and resolve any problem before the appointment.

Confirm the location, journey and timing

  • Test: full product name and exact Home level, if relevant.
  • Approval: correct UK SELT location status where required.
  • Address: building, floor, entrance and appointment instructions from Pearson.
  • Time: the stated local date and time; plan at least 30 minutes early for check-in.
  • Payment: final fee and currency, not a converted overseas price.
  • Access: any accommodation formally arranged through Pearson before scheduling.

Compare a realistic journey with the available slot. A cheaper or earlier appointment is not necessarily practical if transport cannot get you there with a buffer. If travelling from India, remember that an exam appointment does not grant UK entry permission.

If you will take the exam in India instead, use the India centre guide and the outside-UK approved-location arrangements. You do not need to assume a journey to the UK simply because the result is for a UK application.

What to do if the local search is unsuitable

Compare another date or a reachable approved location for the same product. Do not switch to the wrong test or assume a third party can supply a hidden seat. Keep control of your myPTE account and use Pearson’s official support for a booking discrepancy.

For changes, read the rescheduling and cancellation guide before moving or cancelling the appointment. If you need an accommodation, apply through Pearson’s process before booking; requests should be submitted at least six weeks before the chosen test, and review can take longer.

The family/settlement level checklist helps with the product decision. The results guide explains report access and verification after testing.

Frequently asked questions

Does every Pearson location in the UK deliver a SELT?

Do not assume so. Check the exact product and current approved location, then confirm availability in the booking flow.

Can I use an eVisa share code for Academic in India?

The policy’s digital eVisa exception is for SELT tests taken in the UK. Do not transfer it to standard Academic or an Indian appointment.

Is Home an online exam from my house?

No. Home is the name of Pearson’s centre-based speaking/listening products, not remote exam delivery.
